No (Wo)man Is an Island, by Mary Ann Reilly

Mary Ann Reilly in JPG magazine again.
She quotes John Donne:

'No Man is an Island'

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

  1. I just wanted to let you know that this work (No (Wo)man is an Island" and two other works of mine ("Faith on the Street" and "Circa 1967") were selected for "First Response" an upcoming exhibition at Pen and Brush Society (in NYC). The “First Response” theme was structured to bring together works that are literally a responsive, creative reaction to the recent election. Artists were invited to imagine how America and our world will be changed with Obama as President. The curator of the show is Jerelle Kraus.

    Pen and Brush is located at 16 E. 10th Street in Manhattan. Opening reception is on 2/12/09 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The show will be running from 2/12/09 to 3/1/09.

  2. Thanks!
    I don't think that I'll make it, but that's a great neighborhood.
